EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

After reflecting on the Blue Zones Values and Behaviors, I find that all of them resonate with me both personally and professionally, as they embody the foundation of successful leadership. However, Show Up, Find The Way, and Be Likeable resonate with me the most. These values are interconnected, and each plays a crucial role in driving success.

Show Up reflects my belief in being fully present, bringing optimism, and preparing to face challenges head-on. As leaders, we must remain adaptable when things don’t go as planned, which is where Find The Way comes in. I’ve always lived by the mindset that even the word “impossible” contains “possible” in it, which inspires me to persist in searching for solutions, no matter how difficult the path may seem.

At the same time, Be Likeable underscores the importance of collaboration and inclusivity. Leadership isn’t just about driving results; it’s about understanding and engaging with the diverse perspectives within the community we serve. By fostering relationships with local leaders, nonprofit partners, and community members, I believe we can create the trust and mutual respect needed to implement the Blue Zones goals successfully and sustainably.

As Elected City Clerk, I embody Show Up, Find The Way, and Be Likeable in my daily work. I regularly demonstrate neutrality while fostering positive relationships with the City Council, staff, and the community. During meetings, my responsibility is to ensure the agenda flows smoothly and efficiently, all while remaining impartial. When discussions on the dais become intense or contentious, I use my ability to read the room and adapt quickly, finding solutions to keep the agenda progressing, all while maintaining strong, respectful relationships with everyone involved.
